Much of life exists in duality, opposition. Our very nature is dual. “Yin / yang” are intrinsic elements — masculine / feminine, light / shadow, innocence / knowledge, vulnerability / strength… It is not the presence of opposition that is inherently problematic, but the lack of composition between dichotomous factors. The great poet and philosopher Rabindranath Tagore wrote of such duality within love — that in true love, such contradictions exist but are lost; the variances balance and merge, like a dance, or opposing currents within the sea. Or, as I have presented here, industrial metal photographed as abstract art.
